Robert Myers, PhD (Clinical Child Psychologist) - Child Development - Webmaster
Dr Bob Myers is a licensed child and adolescent psychologist. He is Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. Dr Myers has 30 years of clinical experience and specializes in developmental, behavioral and emotional disorders in children and adolescents. He has been Clinical Director for psychiatric inpatient units and Behavioral Health Director for a regional Health Plan in California. He earned his PhD from the University of Southern California. He has been a Licensed Psychologist in California since 1980. He has been married to his wife, Pam since 1971 and they have two grown children a daughter and a son. He is the author of Total Focus: A Comprehensive Program to Improve Attention, Concentration and Self-Control in Children and Positive Parents-Positive Kids. He is the webmaster for Child Development Institute which has over 3 million visitors per year. Dr. Myers has been a talk show host on KIEV and KORG in Southern California. He has also appeared as a guest on many radio and television talk shows locally and nationally. He also was a regular columnist for Parents and Kids Magazine. He and his wife enjoy concerts, theater and travel, He likes to hike and is interested in photography.
Gail Fernandez, MD (Child Psychiatrist) - Child Psychology & Mental Health
Dr Gail Fernandez is a board certified child psychiatrist and is Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the UC Irvine School of Medicine where she is Training Director for Child Psychiatry Fellowship and Medical Director for the Adolescent Inpatient Unit. Dr Fernandez received her MD degree and General and Child/Adolescent Psychiatric training at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Her community work includes Medical Director for FOCUS a program specializing in treatment of sexually abused children and their families, leading a multidisciplinary evaluation team for the developmentally disabled through Orange County Regional Center. She is a psychiatric consultant for Fairview Developmental Center and provides Telemedicine evaluations for children in adolescent in under served populations. She is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr Fernandez is married and has two teenage daughters. She likes dressage, drawing, piano and collecting electronic gadgets. She is born in Japan and for her first 8 years lived in Japan, Vietnam and Thailand before her parents returned to Southern California.
Desmond Lew, MD (Pediatrician) - Child/Teen Health & Safety
Dr Desmond Lew is a Board Certified Pediatrician in California. He received his Medical Degree in 1989 at Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. His Pediatric specialty training was based at University of California, Irvine Medical Center, where he rotated through UCIMC, Children’s Hospital of Orange County and Miller’s Children’s Hospital in Long Beach. Dr. Lew worked as a Pediatrician and Medical Director at Universal Care from 1990 to 2009. He is currently the Medical Director for Medical Management at Alta Med Health Services a non-profit medical group that treats the under-served in the Los Angeles and Orange County regions of Southern California. Dr. Lew also sees patients in his clinic and hospitals in Orange County. In addition, he spends some of his free time working with Pediatric Residents at CHOC hospital. Dr Lew is married and has two children, a daughter in college and a son in high school. He has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and practices regularly with his son. He also enjoys running and has completed 2 marathons.
Pamela Myers, BSEd (Educator) - Kids & Media
Pam Myers received a BsEd in Education and her teaching credential from USC and was a 6th grade teacher for 13 years for the Ocean View School District in Huntington Beach, CA. She and Dr Bob met at USC and were married in 1971. Pam is the proud mother of two grown children, Lauren, who is a Special Education teacher in the La Habra School District and a son, Greg, who is a TV and Film editor. She retired from the public schools to raise her family and has continued to work with children and families through various activities including serving as a PTA president, working with OC Philharmonic Association to bring music education to children and is serving in the youth ministry at her church. Pam and Bob worked as a team on his radio shows and she provided management support in his private practice. Painting and live theater are her passions as well as the protection of children and animals.
David Paltin, PhD (Clinical Child Psychologist) - Parenting & Family Issues
Dr David Paltin is a licensed child and adolescent psychologist in Orange, California. He received his PhD from United States International University. Dr Paltin past experience includes working with the Hawaii State Department of Education developing behavioral health programs for children in schools and as the Executive Director of Outpatient Services for Aspen Community Services providing services to children without insurance. He currently is in private practice and member of the Adjunct Faculty with National University and Columbia College. He is the Author of The Parents’ Hyperactivity Handbook and other professional articles, Dr. Paltin has lectured and consulted on parenting, special needs education, and behavioral health challenges in children. Dr. Paltin appeared recently on CNN’s feature show “Medical Mysteries” and has been profiled for his work with ADHD and sleep problems in children. He is married and the parent of two sons.
George Tucker, PhD (Clinical Child Psychologist) - Learning, School Issues & Learning Disabilities
Dr. George Tucker is a clinical psychologist in private practice in San Juan Capistrano and Orange, CA. He has been licensed in CA since 1981. His practice is devoted to children and adults who have problems in learning, development, and behavior, as well as the significant others who attempt to help them. His book, Problem Children: It’s Not Always the Parents’ Fault, which is based on his work with this population, has been praised by parents and professionals alike. Dr. Tucker has directed inpatient psychiatric programs in CA and TX, and he currently serves as a consultant to Teen Savers and Chapman House, which are substance abuse treatment facilities for adolescents and adults, respectively. He has been married for 21 years to his wife, Tami, and they have two children, a high schooler and a fourth grader. In his spare time, he enjoys writing, golf, and coaching his kids’ sports teams. He is working on a book about the positive impact that his relationship with his father and uncle had on his development.
